How to Dissect an Article

Assessing Article Methodology

For each type of article, there is an expected standard regarding the format and elements it contains.  For example, if you want to publish a randomized controlled trial in a reputable journal, you need to follow the CONSORT guidelines.  In the days when I did the Keeping Up podcast, this is how we assessed the articles' methodology, overall quality and impact.  I took the standard guidelines for each type of article and turned them into a survey questionnaire.  Now you have the secret sauce! Enjoy!  By the way, feel free to fill out all the survey fields with dummy information so you can see all the pages.  That's very important.
